What is a Karakachan dog?
The Karakachan is a breed of dog originally from Bulgaria as a mountain livestock guardian dog. It is also known as the Bulgarian Shepherd or Thracian Mollos. The dog is named after the Karakachans, Balkan Greek nomadic shepherds. These dogs are the ultimate guardians for sheep and goats, they do not tend to wander like the Great Pyrenees, are easy to train and extremely smart nor do they do not make friends with everyone that comes around; they are very loyal dogs to their owners and charges .
We have purebred pups available that can be registered if new owners prefer. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. These pups have been raised with sheep and both parents are working dogs.
